Cover images of Spanish readers online for remote learning.

It’s been clear for some time that the future of texts is digital, and that we will all access Spanish readers online eventually. However, no one predicted that in 2020 everyone would be learning remotely. Everyday, I’m grateful for the technology that allows us to connect with students and gives them access to the Spanish input they need as we meet this challenge.

One of the best new uses of technology I’ve seen is Flangoo, a subscription service that allows you to stream Spanish digital readers to your students at home. Subscriptions work with any device including laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones. Read more below and sign up for a free trial at Flangoo.com

Flangoo Spanish Readers Online Subscription

These are the covers of the Level 1 Spanish readers online from Flangoo.

With this web-based service, teachers purchase a subscription for a low monthly fee and get access to the entire Flangoo library of Spanish readers online for up to 150 students.

The subscription works on any device, so students can access the books anywhere. Teachers can choose a book to read as a class, or make the collection a FVR library and let students choose their own books.

Spanish Readers Online

The key to a quality subscription service is quality content, and the Flangoo library has a wide variety of excellent books. Currently, there are 18 readers at three levels, and more titles will be added all spring and summer.

You’ll find everything from Level 1 readers with comprehension questions to Level 3 Enhanced Readers with built-in audio, video, cultural notes and questions.

I am impressed by how good the books look on different devices. They are easy to read, and the formatting is excellent. The screen shot below is of the enhanced reader ¡Sí, yo puedo! on my phone. (The resolution is reduced on Spanish Playground – it’s even clearer on the phone). I love how seamless the video and audio are!

Support and Flexibility for Students Now

Things are hard for everyone right now. Students are stressed and isolated, and they need our support. At the same time, teachers are facing pressures we never imagined. There is a good chance Flangoo can help you make it through this challenging time.

Reading is the most effective way to build language skills independently. And right now, students have time to read. With Flangoo, you can offer students the flexibility and support they need to stay engaged with Spanish.

The subscription is for unlimited access, so you can start with accessible reading to make it enjoyable and build confidence. You can have everyone read one title, or have students do FVR at home.

The Long Run

Of course, the advantages of Flangloo will go beyond this difficult moment. It is cost effective, environmentally friendly and allows for interactive features that add an extra dimension to language learning.

There is no doubt that Flangoo is going to be a fabulously useful subscription when we are back in our classrooms reading together and once again dedicating precious face-to-face minutes to FVR.

But right now, our students need support and flexibility, and teachers need to make things easier for themselves too. Check out Flangoo’s Spanish readers online subscription and see how it can help you through this difficult time.
