Spanish for kids song about friends

My kids learned a lot of Spanish through popular music.  When they were small, we listened to music in Spanish in the car.  They were patient with my musical taste most of the time, and as they got older, they started recommending artists and songs in Spanish that they liked. Now, they are my best source for new music in Spanish and English.

In addition to exposing children to language, music reflects and communicates culture on many levels. In Spanish-speaking countries, Valentine’s Day, Día del amor y la amistad, is in large part a celebration of friendship.

This song, Amigos, is by Enanitos verdes, a group from Argentina and it is well-known all over the Spanish-speaking world.  It is a classic that friends of all ages sing at parties and dedicate to each other on Feb. 14th. You can listen to Amigos below, or by watching any of hundreds of online videos that friends have made for each other using this song.

You can also download an MP3 of the song.  The lyrics follow the video.

Song in Spanish about friends

No importa el lugar,
el sol es siempre igual.
No importa si es recuerdo
o es algo que vendrá.
No importa cuanto hay
en tus bolsillos hoy.
Sin nada hemos venido
y nos iremos igual.

Pero siempre estarán en mí
esos buenos momentos
que pasamos sin saber.

No importa donde estás,
si vienes o si vas.
La vida es un camino,
un camino para andar.
Si hay algo que esconder
o hay algo que decir.
Siempre será un amigo
el primero en saber.

Porque siempre estarán en mí
esos buenos momentos
que pasamos sin saber.

Que un amigo es una luz
brillando en la oscuridad.
Siempre serás mi amigo
no importa nada más.

Porque siempre estarán en mí
esos buenos momentos
que pasamos sin saber.

Que un amigo es una luz
brillando en la oscuridad.
Siempre serás mi amigo;
no importa nada más.
