It’s time for the Friday Five! Use these activities for quick Spanish fun this weekend or come back to them whenever you need inspiration. They do not require much preparation, if any, and can be done in a short time. If you want more practice, try two or three of these quick Spanish ideas.
1. Learn Spanish vegetable vocabulary making patterns with this online game from PBSKids. The instructions are fast, but the vegetable words are repeated often. Just drag and drop the right vegetable to make the pattern.
2. Read and listen to this book, Grande y pequeño, on Issuu.
3. Jump rope and say this traditional jump rope rhyme:
Manzanita del Perú,
¿cuántos años tienes tú?
Todavía no lo sé,
pero pronto lo sabré.
¡Y 1, y 2, y 3, y 4, y 5,
y 6, y 7, y 8, y 9, y 10!
The translation is:
Little apple from Perú,
how old are you?
I still don’t know.
But I’ll know soon.
and 6, and 7, and 8, and 9 and 10!
and 1, and 2, and 3, and 4, and 5,
4. Listen to the song Cinco Patitos. The baby ducks go over the mountain to play, and each time they come back with one less. Then, make paper ducks. You can use this coloring page or make simple stick puppets. Act out the song with the ducks as you listen. These are the words to the song:

Más allá del monte para jugar.
La mamá gritó cuá cuá, cuá, cuá,
