Pronunciation matters!

Be sure that your child hears as much native-speaker Spanish as possible by using videos, music and audio books. If you are learning with your child, do your best to master the sounds of Spanish. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

– The j in Spanish is pronounced as an English h. Pájaro is pronounced pá-ha-ro, with the stress on the first syllable. Ojos is pronounced o-hos.

– The pronunciation of the ll in Spanish varies from country to country. In many countries it is pronounced like the English y in yes. Llamo is pronounced yamo. Me llamo – My name is…
