Learn Spanish with Pictures – A bike, a telephone and red shoes

Talk about this great picture of a woman on her bike to help your child learn Spanish. The questions that follow, like all the Learn Spanish with Pictures activities, are ordered to help children master the vocabulary and gain confidence with the language. Start with Describe the photo (1) and be sure to point to the objects in the picture as you talk about them. Use gestures, facial expressions and actions to help your child understand what the words mean. When your child understands the key words, ask questions from Choose the answer (2) and Pointing and counting (3). Ask the questions in Yes and No (4) to practice more of the vocabulary used in the description. If your child is comfortable enough with the Spanish words to produce them easily, include the questions in Say a little more (5). The questions in What about you? 1. Describir la foto – Describe the photo
Una mujer está en su bicicleta en la calle. Tiene su teléfono en la mano y lee un mensaje de text. Ella lleva una chaqueta verde y pantalones. También lleva zapatos rojos de tacón alto. Hay unos carros y un camión en la calle.

2. Seleccionar la respuesta – Choose the answer
¿La mujer está en su carro o en su bicicleta?
¿La mujer lleva una chaqueta verde o una chaqueta roja?
¿La mujer lleva tenis o zapatos de tacón alto?

3. Señalar con el dedo – Pointing and counting
¿Cuántos carros hay en la foto?
¿Cuántos camiones hay en la foto?
¿Dónde está el teléfono de la mujer?
¿Dónde están los zapatos rojos?

4. Sí o no – Yes or No
¿La mujer está en la calle?
¿La mujer tiene una chaqueta roja?

¿La mujer lee un mensaje de text?

5. Decir un poco más – Say a little more (respuestas/answers)
¿Dónde está la mujer? – Está en la calle. Está en su bicicleta. / She is in the street. She is on her bike.
¿Qué tiene en la mano? – Tiene un teléfono en la mano. / She has a phone in her hand.
¿Qué hace la mujer? – Lee un mensaje de text en el teléfono. / She is reading a text message on the phone.
¿De qué color es su chaqueta? – Su chaqueta es verde. / Her jacket is green.
¿De qué color son sus zapatos? – Sus zapatos son rojos. / Her shoes are red.

6. ¿Y tú? –  What about you?
