This simple Spanish circle activity is great for a family, a group of friends, day cares or classes. It uses por favor, gracias and de nada and also is a way to practice Spanish animal vocabulary.
Be sure to check out all our Spanish games for kids. You’ll find traditional games, games for preschoolers and lots of games for Spanish class.
Choose a snuggly stuffed animal that the children know how to say in Spanish, for example, el gato. Give the cat to a child, and model asking for the cat by saying “El gato, por favor” and when the child hands it to you, say “gracias”. Encourage the child to respond “de nada.” The next person asks for the cat and it moves around the circle. When it has gone all the way around, start another animal.
If the children are confident of the vocabulary, you can start a second and even third animal as the first animal is moving around the circle. The children really enjoy the rhythm of this game!
El gato, por favor. ¡Gracias!
De nada.
El gato, por favor. ¡Gracias!
De nada.
Of course, there is always one child in my groups that pretends she is not going to give up the toy, but that is the perfect reason for the next child to repeat ¡El gato, por favor!
¡Qué se diviertan! Have fun!

I love this game. I used it with little children at Montessori for my Spanish lessons.
It is a simple way to mintroduce them to basic Spanish. The way I used to do it is by doing animal themes. When I was ready to teach the animals from the farm I used the gallo, pato, vaca, perro, oveja and gato for example then after I while I changed it to animal from the jungle and so forth.
