Spanish for children

The games on Jugarjuntos.com are designed for native Spanish speakers, but they work well with young Spanish language learners too. There are a variety of games with audio to teach basic concepts. These games teach Spanish language learners vocabulary and also model correct pronunciation.

Online game with audio teaches prepositions in Spanish

This game has a picture with a dog house and a tree. Children hear a location in Spanish and move the dog to that place. It is hard to get it wrong and almost impossible not to learn the vocabulary after playing for a few minutes.

This is the vocabulary in the game:

encima del árbol – on top of the tree

Lanudo is a virtual pet (lanudo means shaggy). Kids can move him around by clicking where they want him to go. He negotiates obstacles by himself. Kids can move the rocks to see how he gets around them or to clear his path.

Lanudo talks to kids, asking for things he wants. He says these things:

Comer – Eat. Guide him to the yogurt and apples.
Jugar – Play. Guide him to the soccer balls. He will say Toma (here you go) as he kicks the ball.
Caca – Go to the bathroom. Guide him to the toilet.
Ayúdame – Help me. (I think that Lanudo says help me in a slightly reproachful tone.)
Hazme caso – Pay attention to me. Lanudo will say this if you leave him idle.  He will also get in bed and go to sleep.
